I'm in a difficult situation and trying to figure out my next steps.

missing 1099 from defunct exchange. I've been dealing with this for about 14 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

I have already done some research online but got conflicting advice.

Do I have a strong case? What should my next steps be?

NAL, but from what I've read, you should send a written demand. But yeah, have someone look at your specific situation.

I've dealt with this before.

Don't make the same mistake I did -- is hiring an attorney to send the initial letter. I'd recommend being patient with the process instead.
